This Week’s Two Big Sporting Events That Will Make You Fall For England

We all have our rituals this time of year. For some of us, it’s as simple as eating our weight in candy bars. For others, it’s ringing up relations to spread a little holiday cheer. But over here at Slots Call, one of our favorite things to do is check out the action happening over the pond with English Christmas sports events.

And you never know, we might even be tempted to place a few wagers on the outcomes of these events too… So if you’re interested in getting seasonal, English style, read on to discover what English Christmas sports events you can look forward to over the next few days.

What are the best English Christmas sports events this year?

We are creatures of habit, so the English Christmas sports events we’re going to be focusing on are highlights for us pretty much every year. Even if you’re new to these sports, we reckon you’ll get a lot of fun out of keeping up with the action here too…

Darts

Darts is a peculiar sport, we’re not going to lie. It might not see very physically challenging. It might be dismissed as a bar sport by many. But trust us, the level of skill and devotion top level darts players display can be breathtaking.

And what better way to become accustomed with this game than to see the real masters at play. There is no better place for this than the 2021 PDC World Darts Championship, currently underway in London.

It started mid-way through this month and is fast approaching its exciting finale. This Sunday, 3 January, we’re going to be finding out who is going to take the crown and walk away with the top prize of £500,000, which is an unbelievable $670,000.

English Premier League

Probably the best known export from the United Kingdom is soccer. The English Premier League sports some of the biggest name teams in the whole world. And that’s why when we tune in over the festive season, we know we’re going to be in for a hell of a ride.

There are a couple of games taking place today, but all eyes will be on the massive 2 January line up. On Saturday, 10 matches are taking place all at the same time. That’s 10:00 ET in the morning. If you’re a soccer fan, it’s worth getting up extra early to catch all the action. To be honest, even if you’re not, now is the perfect time to start seeing what all the fuss is about.

Where can I bet on English Christmas sports events?

The answer to this question is obviously dependent on where you’re geographically located. Legal sports betting in the United States, as many of you already know, is on a state by state basis.

Availability is increasing all the time, which is great news for sports fans. But we’re going to give you just one example of a great place you can wager on English Christmas sports events in America. And that is FanDuel.

So if you’re over the age of 21 and within the state borders of West Virginia, Iowa, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Tennessee or New Jersey, you can sign up and place bets.

A Preview Of The 2020 King George VI Chase

A Preview Of The 2020 King George VI Chase

King George VI Chase Preview

Leftover turkey, a full domestic fixture list and *six* horse racing meetings, headlined by the blockbuster King George VI Chase – arguably the greatest sporting day of the year is almost upon us, Boxing Day!

We look set for an absolute belter of a Festive showdown at Kempton, Clan Des Obeaux vs Cyrname – a repeat of the 2019 renewal, and this time it looks better than ever. Both trained by Paul Nicholls who said recently he cannot split the pair, will go head to head over three miles to land the Festive spoils.

Clan Des Obeaux is the back-to-back winner of the race and warmed up with a two length second to Bristol De Mai in the Betfair Chase last month. Nicholls commented after he’d had a tough race but was more than happy with it as a prep run. Any horse that wins this prestigious race is a superstar, to win it back-to-back means you’re a very special horse, Clan is possibly underrated though due to his lack of performance at Cheltenham through the years but three miles around Kempton seems to bring the best in him.

Cyrname was the red-hot favourite for the race last season, coming off the back of inflicting that first defeat over obstacles on Altior at Ascot the previous month, but like Altior, they killed each other’s season in a monster race and he was no match for stablemate Clan Des Obeaux that day. He looked better than ever in the Charlie Hall Chase though with Nicholls commenting that he “looks fantastic – I am very, very happy. We are in a completely different place to where we were last year.” and with Harry Cobden choosing to ride Cyrname big things are expected.

Nicholls could have as many as four runners in the race on the 26th with Frodon and Real Steel provisionally entered, elsewhere, Lostintranslation sits third fav in the market, and last season’s third in the Gold Cup retains the “complete faith” of the Tizzard’s ahead of the big race. He was a well beaten 47 lengths in the Betfair Chase on his seasonal reappearance raising questions about his well-being but his trainer has won the King George in both 2015 and 2016 with Cue Card and Thistlecrack respectively so write Lostintranslation off at your peril.

If that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite then Leopardstown have their annual four-day Christmas Meeting beginning on Boxing Day too, the main races being the Grade 1s Racing Post Novice Chase, Paddy’s Rewards Club Chase, Savills Chase and the Matheson Hurdle bringing the festivities to a close. Here we are likely to see Envoi Allen, Monkfish, Ballyadam, Appreciate It, Honeysuckle, Samcro, Abacadabras, Min, Chacun Pour Soi, Saint Roi and many more Grade 1 winners – it really is the most wonderful time of the year!

Why not enjoy the Boxing Day festivities with bet365 who have a fantastic Open Account Offer, with up to £100 in Bet Credits for new customers. Min deposit £5.
